IS SO IMPORTANT?
Recovering from the work you put in from grueling games and practices are more important
than the activity itself. Reducing soreness, increasing circulation, and improving the overall
health of soft tissues is the most crucial part of training how your body rcovers is the most
overlooked indicator of future performance and/or injury. Proper recovery is the missing link to
enhance training, minimize injury, and optimize performance.
Why is sports recovery beneficial for my child?
Sports recovery is important for young athletes because it allows their bodies to heal and adapt to the strain of exercise, and can help reduce the risk of injury. During exercise, muscles break down, and recovery time allows them to heal and grow stronger. Active recovery, which involves light physical activity that increases heart rate, can also help remove waste products from soft tissue and deliver nutrients to help repair muscles, tendons, and ligaments. However, it's important to avoid repetitive movements during active recovery, and instead try something with a different movement pattern.
Recovery time can also help teenagers avoid overuse injuries, which can be especially damaging to growing bodies. These injuries can stem from repetitive motions over time, and can lead to ailments like stress fractures and tendinitis in joints, tendons, and bones.
In addition to physical recovery, rest and recovery can also help teenagers reset their minds and recharge. This can help them feel less sore and fatigued, and give them the energy to put in the effort needed to get results in their next workout. Sleep is also an important part of recovery, both physically and psychologically.
